News for the Week of April 16, 2008
Rick’s Writin’s
Rick is having fun at the Portland Comic Book Show today. Why aren’t
you there?
Paula’s Picks
Well, it looks like I’m all alone today. The good news is that I’ll
(hopefully) get the newsletter sent out earlier than usual. The bad news
(for me) is that there’s no Fables, Y: The Last Man or Buffy for
me to write about. So, maybe, you’ll get a more informative newsletter
than usual!
We’re getting the first issue of the mini-series X-Men Divided We
Stand. This book features 4 different stories by different writers and
artists. We’ll learn about some of the mutants that were members
of the X-Men: Nightcrawler, Storm, Cannonball, Husk, Black Panther, Neznho
and Anole.
Starting with Superman #675, Alex Ross is going to be the new cover artist
for Superman. This huge anniversary issue features a huge battle between
Superman, Paragon and the forces of Daxam. Oooh!
A new ongoing monthly series is starting this week from Devil’s
Due. The Worlds of Dungeons & Dragons starts off with stories starring
Raistlin (from Dragonlance) and Drizzt (from Forgotten Realms). These
were stories originally written by D&D favorites R.A. Salvatore, Margaret
Weis and Tracy Hickman adapted to comic form by Nick Sehley and Neil Kleid.
Countdown to Final Crisis #2 comes in this week which means there’s
only 1 more issue left! One more until…bum bum bummmm….Final
Crisis!
I hope everyone got out yesterday to enjoy the sunshine. It looks like
that’s the only one we’ll have for a little while. I went
for a nice walk yesterday. There are a ton of trails near my new home.
I’m going to attempt to do a program called Couch to 5k. The idea
is to ease you in to running. You start out walking for a minute, then
running for a minute until you’ve been doing that for half an hour.
You do this 3 times a week. Each week you increase the amount of time
that you run and decrease the time that you walk. I’m looking forward
to it. I’m not a big runner and I think that part of the reason
is because I feel like I have to wear myself out to be productive but
that’s not true. I’m going to start out just walking this
week since I am very couch oriented and it’ll give me a chance to
check out how hilly some of the trails are before I start with the running.
I’m not big fan of hills. I think I picked the wrong state to live
in! |
